UGC NET 2026 PREPARATION TIPS

The UGC NET is one of the most competitive national-level exams, testing candidates for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) eligibility. Success requires a smart strategy, proper time management, and consistent practice.

  1. Understand the Exam Pattern & Syllabus

  • Paper I → General Aptitude (Teaching & Research Aptitude, Reasoning, Data Interpretation, Communication, ICT, People & Environment, Higher Education System).
  • Paper II → Subject-specific (chosen from 83 subjects).
  • Total Duration: 3 hours (no break).
  • No negative marking, so attempt all questions.

  1. Make a Realistic Study Plan

  • Allocate 3–4 months of focused preparation.
  • Divide time between Paper I (30%) and Paper II (70%), since Paper II carries higher weightage.
  • Set daily, weekly, and monthly goals.
