The exam is expected to be conducted by IIT Roorkee in the last week of May 2026, following the completion of JEE Main. Only the top 2,50,000 candidates from JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced, reflecting its highly competitive nature.

The examination comprises two mandatory papers, each lasting three hours and covering Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Both papers are conducted in computer-based mode on the same day, with questions designed to test not just subject knowledge but also analytical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and the ability to apply concepts in novel situations. Hence, each year the JEE Advanced exam witnesses a cut throat competition among the candidates. Being successful in JEE Advanced exam opens doors to world-class education, research opportunities, and a vibrant peer network at the IITs, making it a coveted goal for engineering aspirants across the country.

  • Additional eligibility criteria may include maintaining a minimum academic performance (e.g., CGPA of 8.0) throughout the course.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • Scholarships may cover the entire tuition fees, hostel fees, and provide a monthly or annual stipend (e.g., INR 25,000 per month at IIT Roorkee, INR 3 LPA at IIT Kanpur for top 100 rankers).
  • Some scholarships also cover living expenses and other educational costs, reducing the financial burden on students.
  • Special scholarships like the "Bright Minds" at IIT Kanpur and James Thomason Scholarship at IIT Roorkee are offered to top rankers.

Types of Scholarships:

  • Merit-based:For top JEE Advanced rank holders.
  • Need-based:For students from economically weaker sections, often requiring proof of family income.
  • External Scholarships:Offered by private organizations and foundations for JEE Advanced qualifiers based on merit and/or need.
